Does anyone make biscuits with mayonnaise? I went to a church picnic with my cousin and everyone was screamin---there's Billy's Biscuits! So I thought who would come to a picnic and eat a biscuit---so of course Billy wouldn't give up the secret---so dumb as I am I said "mayonnaise" and if looks could kill I would have been dead at a church picnic in a state park. Any way to 2 cups of self rising flour---you mix one half cup of mayonnaise and one cup of milk and mix--figure out the texture you need to drop or to cut. So easy and so GOOD. BILLY"S BISCUITS RULE> check out internet recipes. And also dump cottage cheese in your corn bread---moist and great!

Krista---my husband hates cottage cheese too! Won't even look at it---but he liked the cornbread and wants more. Everyone I know hates cottage cheese. Winnie---I don't really like mayonnaise that well either. I rarely eat it or use it. I agree about sour cream---I love that too. Anyway my mom gave me a fear of mayonnaise. She would only use certain brands and hated any with an eggy taste. I like the ones made with olive oil.

Barbara, I do struggle with cottage cheese so it may not work for me. Maybe some day down the road I will try it. Or I can get someone to make it and give me a taste! Lol

Barbaram that is really unusual to use mayonnaise! I know adding sour cream can also make breads moist and delicious. I think cottage cheese and sour cream work along the lines of buttermilk. They all are a soured milk product and they all make breads moist. Now, if I could just not gag, like I always do when I see and taste a lot of mayonnaise. shudder. I know I am weird , but I came to this Earth disposing mayonnaise for some reason and I have never really found a way to like it. If a recipe, like tuna salad or potato salad is made, I ways substitute low fat sour cream or at least make it 2 parts sour cream to 1 part mayo. Anyone else out there that is not fond of Mayo besides me??

Krista---you could be right about the cottage cheese in cornbread---it does give it a bit of a snot like texture---but I LOVE cottage cheese. I had to use it one evening as I was totally out of anything else to put in my cornbread. But my hubby and I loved it---very moist. I looked up cottage cheese cornbread on the internet and there are recipes for it.

My aunt gave me her recipe for tomato soup cake and it used mayonnaise. Seems to make it nice and moist. There are eggs and oil in mayonnaise so I can see why people would want to use it in baking.

Very interesting. I will have to try that. I'm not sure I could put cottage cheese in my corn bread though. For some reason that makes me gag. Lol

I've never made them but mayonnaise is just oil, egg, and vinegar so they would probably be pretty much be like buttermilk biscuits.

I will have to try this recipe too. I made the mistake once of asking about a salsa recipe. Didn't realize what an offense it is to ask. What the kicker was is when I came up with my own recipe the salsa snobs wanted to know how I made mine. Go figure.

I will have to try the biscuit recipe. How would have ever thought about putting mayonnaise in biscuits? I sure am glad to hear that you are still alive Barbara. LOL.
