Hi Girls,

I was taken to lunch and antiquing for Mother's Day by my dd and dh since they know I love to do that, (poking around junk shops is so fun) yesterday. I didn't need anything really, but I picked this little box up for $5. I usually don't buy vintage stuff that isn't usable, like bowls or kitchenware. I never have purchased packages from past times (tins are different, can repurpose, but I digress), though I do know there are collectors of food packages, etc.

Anyhoo, I bought a box of canning jar lids from the 40's. Shelf sitter, I know, but it cracks me up. (Photo posted below).

The box is red with great graphics but the name makes me LAUGH! "Good Luck Canning jar lids"! What were they thinking? "Good luck...don't give your family botulism!" "Good luck that you get a proper seal"! I don't know why, but this little bit of kitsch just makes me giggle!

Very strange way of labeling. He He He. I would have laughed too. Oh the things one can think of when they see that label. I never seen them before but I bet it makes for a great conversation piece.

Nicole you got a gem there. The wording does make one smile and love the red color. Great addition to any vintage kitchen collection.

He he he! Tricky wording! Yes funny! Things were alot less predictable back in the early days!
Pioneer Woman Cookbook and tips- how to white wash your cabin, wild greens and where they grow, poison berries to know. I had this book years ago in my 20s from Grandma's house. Happy home tips and recipe. So fun! From like 1919. If I knew then I would have been more attentive of it's where abouts.

I agree Nicole, that packaging is too funny. Are those the pieces for canning, if so how do they work? Any instructions included. I am intrigued!
