I think? I started a sourdough around christmas time and it was supposed to be fed for a few days then put in the refridgerator. Guess what??? I forgot about it. Well, actually it got pushed in the corner behind my mixer. I found it..it has "stuff" on the top, but it is not moldy or nothing... do I start from scratch or try to save it? Is there any saving it? I wish I was like Ronna and had sourdough finesse.

Any suggestions?

WOW, finesse....I'm impressed, never been told that before about anything :)
Yes, let it come to room temp, feed it equal amounts of warm water and flour and it will likely come back to life. Some people drain off the hooch (liquid on top), but I like to stir it back in. Check out the sourdough group on Yahoo, lots of good info from those people. I just lurk on that list, so no one knows me by name. If all else fails, start over or get some established starter from me or Ann.

No! Ronna would tell you the same thing! Just stir it in and maybe feed it and let it get bubbly. It's no big deal.......so she tells me! Mine has that dirty dishwater looking stuff on the top too, but it is supposted to.

Ronna actually has a name for the yucky looking stuff, I think it's hooch. She will probably come on soon and correct me if I'm wrong.

Just make sourdough pancakes tomorrrow!
