I'm giving it away, just because I can and I'm tired of it lanquishing on my bookshelf. I noticed many of the girlfriends are doing drawings for different books, gift boxes just for the joy of making someone happy! So I want to get in on this too....kind of a celebration of being a farmgirl and finally getting back on board at Mary Janes!!

Here is the title:

Cooking from Quilt Country (hearty Recipes from Amish and Mennonite Kitchens) by Marcia Adams.

This is a gorgeous cookbook filled with wonderful recipes and photos. I bought it new in the early "90's, so it is not new, but it is in good condition, comlete with dust jacket and bits of flour in the pages. I've used it many times, so a little of my spirit is in this book. I just love cookbooks used by others....to me it is such a connection with another person who loves to cook and the pleasure it has brought to a family!

If you would like a chance at the book, just post your name here and I'll place your name in a wonderful handwoven basket made by my mother. On January 17th at 10:00 am I'll draw a name out and the cookbook will be in the mail when I get your address!!

Have fun and good luck!
Lots of hugs to all my good friends,
Aunt George

Georgann,
Could I please go in the draw for this book? I love cooking, the Amish and quilting - so the book sounds gorgeous. Up to now, I haven't put my name down for any of these drawings, living so far away, but I couldn't resist asking to be in this one.
Glad to see you back posting - hope you are getting time to sew now!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Hi, Aunt George. Please put my name in. I've been doing my own cooking for 10 years, and I'm just starting to use cookbooks! (Lots of rice and beans, in case you're wondering what I've been eating all this time).

I just visited your Web site and am reminded that we're fellow Virginians! The Briar Rose Apron is breathtaking! I've never seen a more beautiful apron. With modifications for modesty, it would make a spectacular garden party frock. And I love your section on nursing garments. I was PR Director for the Visiting Nurse Association once upon a time, and used to love looking through the agency's archives of early nursing uniforms, caps, and the "language" of their ribbon trims, shapes, etc. Some of the older employees there filled me in. Pretty fascinating. I've bookmarked your site and plan to visit it again.

I hope you're getting all the blessings lately that you deserve.

Auntie George, I've also been away far too long and am making an effort to correct that. My reward was seeing your generous offer! The Marcia Adams book is really beautiful (recalling my last browse through it at the store) and the recipes both unusual and tempting. Would you toss my name in the basket? Thank you!

How lovely of you to give away one of your treasured cookbooks! I, too, love cookbooks. My husband, who is off work with a broken leg, actually got out one of my old cookie and candy cookbooks (it's one of the Better Homes and Gardens series from the 70s) today, and sat on the couch reading recipes to me, and asking questions, too, while I worked in the kitchen. He has great plans to try out a couple of the recipes tomorrow - he just has to narrow it down to which ones!

Thanks for entering me in the drawing. I would really like an Amish cookbook to help round out my collection.

Welcome back Aunt George and please add my name to the drawing. I love "peeking" into the Amish lifestyle. I am lucky enough to live close to a number of Amish communities here in Indiana and so admire many of their lifestyle choices. Well, and the excellence of Amish cooking! Yum!

Don't worry Aunt Jenny and Rebekah and others who have this cookbook, I think I'll offer up a second one for those who post that they already have this one and have a drawing for a second cookbook. I have so many that I need to cull. I have collected cookbooks for over 25 years and need to start paring down my collection! I would like for my cookbook "babies" to go to good homes!!

....so anyone who already has the Amish Quilt Cooking book, please post if you are interested in a different cookbook.

So Rebecca and Jenny, your names will go in the second cookbook basket!

Abundant Blessings!
