I wasn't sure where to post this, but since my kitchen and laundry room are side by side, I thought this was close enough!! Today, at Wal-Mart, I needed more hangers. My house is overwhelmed with plastic hangers, because I refuse to use wire ones, and with six of us, well, you can imagine. Anyway, in the laundry aisle at Wal-Mart, there were what looked like more plastic hangers. I looked at the tag, and was pleasantly surprised.

Here is what it said. These hangers are produced entirely from material derived from corn. It is an environmentally sound alternative to petroleum-based plastic. The corn material comes from renewable resources (all grown in U.S.) and is 100% compostable.

These hangers cost $4.00 for 5, but landfills won't be jammed up with them. I was so excited. My kids tell me I get way too excited over cleaning/laundry things that are good for the environment. One of the girls tells me that she is only going to clean her house once a month. I laugh.
