So my soon to be daughter-in-law has MS and cannot eat any gluten/wheat or dairy. I find myself at a loss when it comes to holiday meals and family gatherings. Tonight, everyone is getting together and I am struggling to figure out what to bring that she can eat. We are having appetizers and finger foods. So far, I have come up with chips and salsa. Any ideas from my brilliant Farmgirl Sisters?

Thanks so much for the ideas. I think that we have settled on Buffalo Wings, chips and salsa/guacamole and a selection of olives/anti-pasta.

I love this group of women!

We are gluten free in our house and I find that whole foods are the best route. There are so many resources for gluten-free eating nowadays, and MaryJane and Ashley work on lots of gluten-free recipes at the farm, which are often published in the newsletter and on the blog. We also have a gluten-free budget mix in the store that can replace the gluten flours in baking. I often take an original recipe and simply replace the flours with non-gluten ones and the results are pretty good

What would you normally bring? Our family is GF for the most part. Meatballs are a favorite here, as are buffalo chicken bites, made with GF flour. We also love veggie trays and you could use guacamole to dip.

Christi, I do understand your problem. I too have MS and have to watch gluten and dairy. Here's some ideas.

Humus with chips or raw veg sticks.

Wrap dried fruit (apricots, figs, prunes, etc.) with bacon and broil.

Marinated mushrooms or artichokes.

Humus and marinated mushroom or artichokes can be bought so no preparation.

Hope you and your DIL have a fun night.
