Icing: Confectioners Sugar 1-2 Tbs, milk 1 Tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. almond extract Almonds slices Crystallized decorating sugar Makes: 2 dozen
Cream butter, sugar and extract together. Add flour and mix well. Dough should be slightly sticky, wrap and refrigerate 1-2 hours. Roll dough out on pastry sheet sprinkled w/ confectioners sugar. Cut out with med. star shaped cookie cutters. Bake at 300 for 12-15 mins until slightly brown at edges. Cool on racks and top with frosting. Decorate with almond slices and crystallized sugar. These get better after a few days and they keep well in tins. They will freeze too but you may loose a bit of the "topping".
