This past weekend, my daughter brought me a bucket of cucumbers from her family garden so that I could make my Mom's bread and butter pickles.

These are a family favorite for my girls, and my brother and sisters. Nobody else cans in my clan so each year I make the all time Summer request that our Mom always made. They are great on sandwiches!! For us down here in Florida..... the gardens are exploding! However, that is coming with none other than zucchini squash! I've already used in in 4 recipes since last Friday and froze several bags full for later! LOL!! I am thinking the next step will be muffins using my MJF Budget mix. And after that

You know how it goes with overly successful zucchini squash!!

Winnie: Those pickles are making my mouth water. I make them too. Such a great way to use up cucumbers that have gotten too big.

You are welcome, Shannon! Let me know what you think if your cucumbers do well and you have time to make the recipe.

ahahahahaha! That is what I get for not rechecking last year!!!! I'll go print a copy now and try it. Last year I didn't make any pickles, as our cucumbers did horrific. Hopefully this year will be better!!! Thanks Winnie!

Shannon, I posted a photo copy of the recipe last year under Farm Kitchen. Go to page 7, with date 7/7/2014, under my topic Canning Started. It looks like you requested it last year! LOL!! I hope you have time to try it out and see if it will be a family favorite too. It is a great way to use up cucumbers and it makes a nice gift too!!

Winnie, you did your mother proud. Your pickles are beautiful. My sister, Betty, makes the best bread & butter pickles too. They're my favorite.

Have a blessed day, Sara ~~~ FarmGirl Sister #6034 8/25/14

Could I get a copy of your pickle recipe??? I always seem to struggle to find one the kids like! Our cucumber plants are doing pitiful :( I think I am going to try planting more seeds in the next few days! I also need to plant more hot pepper seeds!
