Posted - Nov 14 2006 : 11:22:38 AM My entire family loves this and they honestly wait all year from me to make it since I ONLY make it this time of year. I triple this recipe (recipe shown IS NOT tripled) and make a ton of it, can it and gift it. I hope you like it!!
3 Cups Fresh Cranberries 1 Cup Chopped Apples (I like to use Honey Crisp) 1 Orange Peel, Chopped 2 Cups Sugar (white or raw, I prefer raw) 1 Cup Water 1/3 Cup Orange Liqueur
In a saucepan, mix the cranberries, apples, orange peel, sugar and water. Bring to a boil. Boil for about 5 minutes, or until the berries are soft. Remove from the heat and stir in the liqueur. Transfer to sterile jars and either refrigerate until service, or can them as you would a jelly or jam to preserve.
I love to eat this just as it is, as a cranberry relish, but my mom says she likes to top chicken with it.
I have in the past added a little extra spice to it, like clove and a little bit of cayenne pepper for a Zing, but I honestly like is sweet the best.
Have fun!

Posted - Nov 22 2006 : 08:23:05 AM Hi all- Tasha Rose--just wanted to let you know that I made this up last night for the holiday, and boy is it lovely! I didn't have any orange liquer, though, so I used what we had on hand (Woodford Reserve Bourbon). I am a Kentucky girl, afterall :)
Thanks for sharing, I know everyone at the thanksgiving gathering will love it (except my husband who likes his cranberries to look like a can!)
