I have found a great way to cook bacon. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Place your bacon slices on a cookie sheet with sides and place in the oven. I line my cookie sheet with foil to make it easier to clean, but that is optional. If you don't use foil, it's best to grease the cookie sheet first. It helps with clean up.

You have to watch it for doneness. It will take different times to bake depending on how thick the slices are and how crispy you like it.

It sure beats grease all over the stove top and doing small batches at a time.

We do this, too, when I have a little time on the weekend...BUT, I brush the edge of my bacon with a bit of water and then dip each edge in a little brown sugar and THEN put it in the oven!
YUM.

good idea. A group of friends and I are going to the mountains in October (ten of us) and I am in charge of the cooking. Will try this in oven along with the biscuits. and no mess. Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the tip of the cold oven. That sounds even better. I will do it that way next time.

Brenda,

I learned about this maybe a year ago and have not fried bacon since! I do line the cookie sheet with foil, and after breakfast I just let the pan sit there until the grease solidifies and then all the foil with solid fat goes in the trash. Easy peasy lemon squeezee.

The way I learned was to put it in a cold oven, set the temp for 400 and the timer for 20 minutes. For anything other than unusually thick-sliced bacon it is close to being done to not-too-crisp in that 20 minutes, but I like my bacon to shatter in to shards when I crunch it, so I let it go longer. As an aside, bacon in London was a very unpleasant experience for me. I think they maybe put the package under their arm to warm it up a bit and put it on a plate. Not my style!
