Didn't have powered pectin for my recipe for rhubarb raspberry jam. So I used the liquid. Guess I shouldn't have but it seems fine so far.

I don't claim to be the smartest tool in the shed, but if I had an outside fire pit I'd sterilize the jars and can the jelly outside once it was ready to jar.

I love the idea of the chillover! I read about it-what a great alternative to those who are kosher/vegan. (not me, I love a cow on pasture as much as I do on my plate ;)

wow now I want to really try the chillover.

If I could do the "canning" outdoors, I think that would be ideal as well!

According to what I've read they're not interchangeable and are added at different times when cooking the jelly /jam. Oh well live and learn.

I think powdered vs liquid is more of a personal preference than anything else. I've used both and never really noticed much of a difference. However, this year I decided to try MJ's Chill Over powder instead and I don't think I'll ever go back. I followed the recipe in the box for jam. It was super simple and I haven't had a batch fail yet!
