I just thought I'd pass this article on. Makes me further believe that eating all organic is the way to go. Tricky food manufacturers and their labels!

What do y'all think?

I THANK GOD, that my family does not drink any of those drinks! Ewww.
It is simply amazing nowadays- it really is. Its like nothing is safe unless you grow/raise it yourself and you KNOW exactly what it contains!
Thanks for sharing Nicole.

Okay... that's totally disgusting... How can this kind of stuff be legal? It's no wonder people have so many diseases and illnesses! I mean... REALLY?! Why would someone be so evil as to put this stuff in our food and then smile as they sell it to us? And I have to wonder, how on EARTH did people survive, eat healthily and even preserve their food in the old days without this miraculous stuff in it?! Ugh... EXASPERATING!!!

I have friends and family who feel that they have no choice BUT to buy convenience foods or "fresh" foods from the grocer that are not organic. They're too busy to do otherwise, or it's too expensive, or it takes too much time and thought to buy organic and read labels, etc. They don't care how their meat was raised or what chemicals are in it as long as it's cheap - they've got families to feed, after all. There is also a general "trust" that the manufacturers are providing wholesome foods in the produce section, in the meat case, and in those cans, boxes and freezer packs. One person actually suggested that I am harming myself by not eating processed and other-than-organic foods because obviously the government thinks we need all those chemicals - they must have some health benefit that we are not getting by eating organic! Eghads!

Surprisingly, even foods labeled as organic may not be exactly what we imagine them to be - most of the time they have gotten around the verbiage and ridiculously minimal requirements of government regulations just to get that special little label on their product. And even those old familiar labels that have earned our confidence over the years are no longer owned by small family farmers and no longer have the same meaning behind their organic label - they have been bought out by the big companies and now meet absolute government minimums. We are not getting the same product as we used to. If you are not growing it yourself, it's extremely important to go beyond the label in order to ensure you know the sources producing and providing your foods - how the food is grown, processed, where it comes from, the standards of the country of origin, how long it took to get to the store, etc. If you haven't looked into this in a while, you will simply be amazed.

Oh my, is sure makes me want to make sure to read all labels, and think twice before I buy anything anymore. Who would ever think that all of that gross stuff is actually in our food system. I also believe all organic is the only way to go. If we could grow most of our own, we would know exactly what e are putting into our mouths.
Thank you, Nicole, for posting is information.
