After reading a post last night that mentioned someone had a pizza crust recipe taped inside their cupboard, had to wonder, (okay I became nosey ;), what everyone else has taped inside their cupboard doors?
heres my list-
In my spice cupboard I have recipes for my (top secret!) seasoning mixes and a sweet and sour sauce.
In my coffee/beverage cupboard I have recipes for my "mock moolatte", homemade cocoa, a very nice Swiss Mocha mix, and recipes for flavored syrups (like chocloate and carmel!).
In my baking cupboard I have a recipe for chocolate chip cookies, granny's molasses cookies, mom's russian tea cakes, and my brothers favorite peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses.
And in the cupboard with dinner plates I have seasonal pictures I change around, and a pocket with seasonal dinner bessings and notes that I change around depending on the season, i.e., Yule, Ostara, Midsommer, Mabon and Halloween (Samhain). There are more but those are the ones we acknowledge. I find this helps to keep me centered and mindful of my home and family when business and farm life gets a little crazy.

Hanging inside the spice cupboard door is an envelope filled with take out menus (rarely used!), nothing on any other but the inside of the Hoosier came with it's own helpful hints , measurement conversions, canning info and the previous owners added "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant". The lady we bought it from was Alice(not THE Alice!) and about 80 years old.It always makes me smile when I think that one of her grandkids put it there and she kept it whether she knew about the song or not.

On the inside of my cabinet door where I keep glasses, I have a color photo I cut from a magazine of a very large gorilla sniffing a small bouquet of flowers he is holding up to his nose. It slows me down and reminds me that I'm not the only one out there capable of 'smelling the flowers'.

I have nothing inside my cabinet doors. However -- it's such a good idea for recipes that I use all the time that I think I'll go tape something up!

Oops I forgot to answer the question! I have a small pantry and I glue, tape, stick etc... recipes and such on the wall. I'd like to get some tack board but haven't yet! I also have a towel rack in one cupboard but I never seem to remember that it is there and am always searching for a towel! I'm VERY scatterbrained!

I have in my cabinet door, for the dishes. It is right over my workspace counter. I have the above mentioned pizza crust, my "secret" baked bean recipe ( it actually is the label off vankamps, but my family raves about it. I do add a few extra spices), and a conversion chart that is soooooo handy. Most of my other cabinet doors have spice racks or paper holders.

When my girls were younger and lived at home I put a list of "what goes in here" in each cupboard - so they could check the list when putting away dishes to put them in the right spot - don't put the metal pots and pans with the mixing bowls or the baking dishes, each had their own cupboard. Even though to you and me those categories might seem obvious it helped to reinforce the concept with them.
I also kept a "master" grocery list inside one of my cabinet doors. I could check it when going to the store to see if I was forgetting anything.
In that house I also had towel racks inside one of the cupboards for my kitchen towels.
Great question! Makes me think about organizing my new space!

Oh, and I forgot to say that I love your solution for the TV! I've been mulling for a long time over how to accomodate a flat screen TV. Hubby's a geek and loves electronics, but they don't match my Civil War era house. All these gadgets look like lucite jewelry on a Gibson Girl. How do you deal with the computer? So far I use a laptop and just hide it when I'm not on it, which is about twenty minutes a week. *snork!* |

Frannie, what you're saying makes good sense. I also love using old things. In fact, when I need a new kitchen utensil I'll generally head to the antique store first, because the items are often cheaper there, and have stood the test of time.
And I find it amusing that your hubby said what he did. Mine has been known to say the same thing about my horses. I have five horses and I'm the only one who rides. Yep, they're keepers. |

Oooh, Frannie! Tell me about those red and white dishes in your 'shabby chic' white cupboard! Looks like you have lots of them. Are they ironstone/England? Restaurantware/American? I'm a nut for red-on-white restaurantware and just got some dinner and salad plates this year that I'm nutzoid about. Tell me more! |

babs .. i got the little 'sign-holder' and put the RING BELL FOR SERVICE sign in it .. it's been such fun .. cuz' each morning, whoever gets out of bed first and makes coffee .. RINGS the BELL when it is ready .. then we go out on the back porch for morning coffee and talking and jus' being together. xo

thanks gurlfrenz ... and jp .. yep, everything is so useable and 'at hand' . i love serving on different dishes .. honestly, my favs being olde gray enamel pie tins that i've been collecting for awhile (i use them for dinner plates) i love vintage glasses in those olde carriers and have about a dozen sets of those .. and recently, especially during the summer .. i discovered olde glass milk bottles! i have a BIG one that i make tea in .. and serve the 'quart-size' milk bottles (and a straw) to drink tea from .. don't have to go for so many 'refills' on a hot summery day. i also have a wonderful olde wood crate filled with vintage soda bottles .. that i will serve drinks out of too .. (at a party, usually) ... people get a giggle out of them! ...
sometimes, i cook, sometimes we go out to dinner, sometimes (like tonight .. cuz' i was in town all day helping to decorate our 'town square' with zillions of christmas lights (won't light them until the day after thanksgiving .. but we knew it might be reeeeeeeely COLD at that time .. so, our committee decided to do it now. didn't think i'd much feel like cooking dinner tonight .. sooo .. i stopped at a local restaurant (country cookin') and picked up some yummy chicken, mashed potatoes, my MOST favorite Kentucky Green Beans ... i did whip up a salad and corn bread to go with them.
it's so funny but every now and then someone will see my home (both here and the one we had in Maryland) and not see that everything is useable .. cast iron pans, olde dishes (don't own any new-fangled ones) .. vintage silverware .. it can all be used just like new-bought stuff can.
i love to change displays all the time. have a great 'honey hunk' story!!! several years ago, at a party at our home .. there was a woman who asked hank if he 'liked' all the stuff i had in our house ... (i tiptoed to the kitchen door to hear his response to her) .. he looked around .. and replied: "frannie loves it .. and i love frannie" ...ohhhhhhhh .. he's a KEEPER!!!!

Cabin creek - my kitchen has 911 and emergency numbers inside the cupboard door. It is not as picture perfect as yours, but I cook there every night and it is a real working space. I love it. Your kitchen is so photogenic and sweet - do you cook there every night too? Your hubby is lucky!

don't have built-in kitchen cupboards ... our 'open shelves' have dishes that i use everyday .. our standing cupboards .. two are closed doors with nothing pinned to the inside .. one is 'open' ... here's some pics:
the first two are 'open' shelfs above the kitchen counter .. on either side of the window over the sink.

.. inside doors are a wonderful 'deep turquoise' .. nothing pinned to it though.

I have glass insert doors on all the kitchen cupboards but inside my linen closet door is the kid's chore lists...responsibilities for each weekly chore (pet helper, kitchen helper, bathroom helper and trash helper)and an emergency list.
