Posted - Sep 21 2012 : 08:11:39 AM I've heard that jelly shouldn't be made on a rainy day. Is this an old wives tail? Second, I found out that cider can be canned by heating to 170 degrees. And canned in a boiling water. Bath for 5 minutes.

Posted - Sep 21 2012 : 10:53:23 AM The jelly thing was from many years ago when you parrifin topped your jelly. It would take cause the jelly to weep through the parrifin. My grandma told me that when I started cannin. I prefer a rainy day for cannin as it is usually cooler!
Yes, cider ia a water bath can. It is apples and therefor high acid. I love cannin apples in any form! They are so easy!
