Posted - Sep 06 2012 : 1:22:17 PM Hi farmgirls!
Yes, you read that right. My parents just discovered a plum tree in their backyard (long story) and it looks like there's a bumper crop. As I don't have canning supplies, I whipped out the dehydrator and "made" prunes for the first time. Now I just need some ideas about what to do with all of them. (Hey, at least the family will stay regular this fall!)
Does anybody have any favorite tried-and-true recipes that include prunes?

Posted - Sep 23 2012 : 6:59:23 PM I've seen several chicken recipes that call for dried plums (same thing I know just avoiding the prune word I guess). You could google recipes and come up with a lot.

Posted - Sep 07 2012 : 6:27:11 PM Try making prune danish, or prune whip. Also, filled cookies eaten in Jewish homes at Purim. They're called hamantaschen and have all different kinds of fruit fillings, puréed prunes among them. Here's a page online that tells about them and offers a good recipe http://www.tampabay.com/features/food/general/article1218488.ece
You could also try Epicurious.com. I just types "prunes" into their search engine and got lots of great recipes. http://www.epicurious.com/tools/searchresults?search=prunes&x=0&y=0
My mom always used to add chopped-up prunes to our Thanksgiving turkey stuffing, the way some people use dates.
