I would like to make dill pickles this year but everywhere I look, the recipe calls for whole cukes or spears. Can I make dill pickles but cut the cukes into fat chunks, or isn't that recommended? I didn't know if it was just personal preference that every recipe I've found so far is whole or spears...or if there is actually a reason that dill recipes aren't "chunks".
