Howdy! I also started a post over in Here's to your Health. I am looking to start a sharing circle for kefir grains and villii. Anyone have cultures to share? If I end up buying from an outside source, I will share and keep this thread open. Budget is tight but I could barter for something in my yarn or fabric stash if anyone has cultures and is looking to barter.

Don't hesitate to remind me! I'm organizing a Mounted Search and Rescue Clinic this weekend, and I'm sure to be exhausted when I return!

Wonderful. I look forward to hearing from you when you are back in town. I am thinking of getting goats for milking and have a friend who has them and is about to lamb. Thank you so much for your help.

I found old posts for kefir grains and was wondering if anyone had any live grains to share. I'm from Michigan and we still have freezing weather so this might be a good time to ship. I would happily pay for shipping and anything else needed for this adventure.

I do have some grains. Shoot me an email if interested. I use raw cows milk.

Kristine,
Howdy!
I just got my grains established after rehydrating. I do not have enough to ship yet. Go ahead and contact the other ladies who have posted. They may or may not be subscribed to this thread.
I hope to hear good news!

Cool, thanks!
I have a trade going already, though other Farmgirls may contact you for grains. Someone was looking recently in the original thread in Here's to Your Health, and she found it by Google Search.

I have just gotten mine going again. So give a hollar when you want some. I have enough for 2 or 3 people I am sure. I do use raw cows milk, if that makes any difference or not. We are staying in the 80's for a while. I will look up the Ehow information.

Michele,
Would you be open to sharing when the weather cools? It looks like this forum had and active kiefer thread that fizzled out.
I am trying to keep this one going now

I have quite a few grains as well. I question shipping in warm weather as well.

Thank you! That would be awesome!
I will message you tomorrow, my brain is tired right now.
Message me about what kind of yarn you would like. I have different kinds, mostly natural fiber yarn but a few with a little nylon, like mohair blends.
Thanks again for being in the dairy culture circle!

I also found the information on how to dry them. I have lots! Do you want to message me your address and I will Google how to ship and we can give it a shot next week? If it doesn't work I'll dry some next week and we can use that as a back up plan. I knit more than I sew. I'd trade for a little yarn!

I googled and found out that EHow has good info on shipping kefir grains. I also read that temps should not exceed 90 degrees and it is ideal for shipping to take 2-3 days. If you feel like shipping, let me know. I think that shipping on a Monday or Tuesday is best in the summer. My mailbox is in the shade by a creek, so it stays cool. If you wish to ship, I can send you some yarn or fabric, or maybe I have something else you would want. If not, I understand.

PS I can't post the EHow link for tech reasons.

Hi There,
Thanks for writing back.
I was born and raised in Norwich, CT! It is hot here in TX, too. I will do some research on shipping kefir grains. That would be generally helpful if others respond, it seems. I used to receive midwifery medication ( Rhogam) on ice packs in a styrofoam box. I wish I still had that stuff!

I have tons of kefir grains. I just don't know if I could ship them to you safely. It's already hot up here in CT. What do you think? Want to give it a shot? Or wait for a closer source?
