I keep seeing the Excalibur (dumb name) and it seems to be the most popular but it looks like an Easy Bake Oven made of plastic. There is one by the Sausgae Maker Co. that looks okay? OR is it one of those things you use once and hate dealing with it? Thanks Marjorie |

Posted - Sep 13 2006 : 11:06:23 PM Marjorie - you also might want to check out the website www.dryit.com - they have great wooden dryers that are really well-made. I don't have one, but I saw a couple of them when I was up and MaryJanesFarm, and they are definitely the ones I want when I can get one.
XOXO, Libbie

We ordered ours from Cabelas http://www.cabelas.com/ last year. it is a 12 shelf unit and dehydrates alot. We love it . we do alot of garlic herbs and peppers in it for our garlic seasonings. It also has heat control 50-150 degrees and a timer. I am drying basil in it right now. We did alot of comparison shopping before we ordered this one. It seemed to be the best deal for the size. We did have an old handmade type (10 smaller shelves ). It was not as efficient and drying times are now shorter and everything drys evenly. The old one we had to constanly turn and reposition sheves for even dring. This one we set the timer and forget it it cuts itself off. It is also easy clean up and has a small drip pan for messy jobs . We bought the screen inserts too. Hope this helps The garlic lady
