Posted - Sep 08 2006 : 7:16:21 PM Karin (Momof3) mentioned that Kudzu makes a plant dye. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm very interested and need some info so I can maybe use at the November Syrup (cane) Making Day at a nearby state historical site.
I demo on my spinning wheel at living history events, parks, etc., and love to use natural plant dyes from plants that everyone knows and never thinks of having a beneficial use - especially kudzu!!
I need to know now which parts of the plant to collect before the cold weather kills it back until next spring; what colors can I expect and what mordant should I use to set the colors?
Thanks!

Posted - Sep 09 2006 : 3:39:45 PM That would be so interesting! I "googled" it and didn't really come up with anything for Kudzu and dye - so hopefully Karin will have more information or a source for you...
Good luck!
