I made this last night, I couldn;t stop eating it!!! I don;t measure so here we go,8 oz bag of egg noodles cooked and drained, use a 26oz can of spaghetti sauce, put noodles in a bowl and add 3/4 of the spaghetti sauce mix, put in a 9 by 13 buttered ban, [I run cold water over my noodles when I strain them.] Take the sauce that is left and put over noodles,Layer Fryed ground beef,olives, mushrooms, and cheese,Bake at 375 for a 30 minutes. ENJOY

Hi all, been busy lately. As far as Boca & Morningstar, you just have to try them to see if you like them - some of the soy stuff I like, some I don't. I usually cook the "burgers" in the microwave, right in the cellophane (open one end) - that keeps them quite moist. If you cook them in a pan they seem to dry up. My son, the carnivore, doesn't know that they aren't meat and I don't plan on letting him in on the secret! One of the brands has a pizza flavor patty which is simply delicious. I've also tried the lasagna, it's good but the sauce is too sweet tasting for me.

Morningstar was the other brand I use and I couldn't think of it. It is very good also. I LOVE their "chicken" wings, spicy . The Boca crumbles are good for lasagne etc.

My brother has lost 100 pounds by stopping eating anything that tastes good. He told me Boca was good but I didn't believe him. I finally tried one and I love them! I even got my meat-loving boyfriend to eat them. I highly recommended the "Flame Grilled" ones! Add normal burger fixin's and you will be pleased! |

Thanks for the suggestions. My store carries the Boca and Morningstar brands. Adding the seasonings is a good idea too, we try to stay away from a lot of salt.

tofu is not a hit at my house either. I do at least one meatless supper a week, but for the most part we are meat eaters. I have tried the boca...(vegetarian daughter in law) and they ARE good.

We eat both Boca and the Morning star brands, but I usually buy the flavored varieties of burgers. As for the soy ground beef, I usually add garlic & onion(fresh if I have time, powder if not), and italian seasonings or mexican seasonings depending on what I'm making.I was the vegetarian for 12 years but my meat lovers eat about 3-4 veggie meals a week now and don't complain too much. I just had to promise no more tofu!

You'll want to experiment with the soy or veggie "meat" products. There are several good ones out there, I think it's just a matter of taste. I prefer Boca.

This sounds so good...Is the soy hamburger tasty? Is it dry? I bought the soy gardenburger a few years ago and they were so dry I could hardly eat them. Would love to find a different brand of soy meat substitute.

Kassie! You just described what my son still calls "Soccer supper"!
We make it almost the same but sometimes use elbow noodles and home canned stew tomatoes instead of sauce. When I have them I also add green, red or yellow peppers. I have used ground turkey or the soy "ground beef" and no one knows the difference it's such a flavorful dish. We learned the hard way one night that EVERYONE in our house likes this dish. I turned the stove off and covered the pot on the back burner and when we came back from the game , no dinner. Our dog had very neatly removed the lid and eaten the entire pot without leaving a trace! Now I hide it in the microwave! It makes great lunch the next day if there's any left!

Kassie, Big lasagna fan here! This sounds great. Have never used mushrooms, but sounds yummy! Buffalo meat is very lean, almost dry unless cooked with moisture of some type. But it is very good! There is a buffalo farm near my home. I have taken photos of the herds and they are very beautiful and quite docile.

This sounds like "lazy lasagna" - not a putdown by the way. Sounds delicious, but I found out the hard way not to eat too much beef. If you can, substitute ground soy "sausage" for the ground beef, or use Buffalo meat (very very lean). Also for better health use whole wheat noodles, or Soba (buckwheat) noodles. These have a high percentage of fiber.
