I just put together some Vegetarian Lentil Soup and put it on to simmer for dinner. It's my favorite soup for when the weather gets cold - I make it at least once a week from about November through April and enough for two nights in a row and then some! I could (and sometimes DO) eat it for three meals a day!

I was just wondering if anyone else has a soup they feel this way about when it gets cold...

Anna
I would love that recipe, even if it is just the basics.

I make a puree vegitable soup that has a leek and roasted garlic base-it's sooo good!

I love your term Suzanne...soup-aholic. hahaha.

I am a soup lover too but it can't be spicy (gumbo is too spicy for me so you can imagine my taste level). Any other soup is fine with me...seafood, meat, vegetarian...yum yum.

I can't wait to have some stew over the weekend. Time to bring out my slowcooker!!

Soup in a staple at my house during the winter. When my boys were little, my mother made a vegetable soup that they called "Grandma Soup". Still do. Grandma Soup is tomato based with hamburger and most any vegetable available and rice or potatoes (the hamburger could be omitted). Mom used the little bits of leftover vegies from the week. Now that my boys are grown, I'm the grandma that makes the soup and they like me to have a pot on the stove when they come over.

And yes, hot bread right out of the oven! That's the best. Now I'm getting hungry.

Shipwreck Stew is basically chili with potatoes, worchestshire sauce & celery in it. It is a yummy change to just chili!

I am a total soup-aholic, too! Glad to hear so many of you are, as well!

Just got a new one from a blog I subscribe to - Cheesy Vegie Soup, and tonight I'm doing goulash (though it's not a soup). You can get the recipes on my blog.

Chili, or tinga poblana de pollo - which is like a chicken potato soup, or white bean swiss chard. Gosh, when you start thinking about it, there are so many yummy winter soups!

In my book, any soup would do. Just make sure you have hot, fresh from the oven, loaf of bread. Yummm!

Aunt Ruth's Minestrone. It has pepperoni slices in it and no pasta!

mmmm... I love cold weather just for the soups!
My kids like vegetable, and I like black bean. Just the smell of stock on the stove puts a smile on my face.

All those sound great! I love Ina Garten, too. And what's in Shipwreck Stew? Sounds interesting!

Winter Squash Soup from Ina Garten is our favorite winter soup. It is simple and quick to make, but oh so delicious!
