Hi,

I am looking for a fabulous shortbread recipe for a cookie type dough, but would also like to have one for the more bread like shortbread as well. Thanks so much!

This recipe was given to me by a Scottish woman who made the best shortbread.

Scottish Shortbread

1 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar, blend thoroughly. Add egg yolk and vanilla. Sift flour with baking soda and mix well with the butter mixture. Spread in an ungreased pan and prick with a fork or roll out for cookies at least 1/4" thick. Bake at 350* 25 minutes for cakes, 15 minutes for cookies.
