I think we all have one. Usually in the kitchen but it could be anywhere. You know, that drawer that we call the junk drawer round here. I was looking in it last night and wondering if I could find a real home for it's contents so I can use the drawer for something else. I decided against it. I can't imagine not having this drawer. The basic contents of mine: screwdrivers, small hammer, tape measure, scotch tape, little level, electrical tape, bits of twine and string, a five in one and lots of loose screws, nails, washers and nuts. AND red wax lips from who knows when or how or why they are in there! LOL
Do you have a drawer like this?
What do you keep in it that I might find useful to keep in mine?
What is the oddest thing in yours?

Yup, got one like that too! Just about everything you've listed . . a whole lot of "necessary" items. Also have a glass scraper blade (for cleaning the glass on our pellet stove). Wine corks, wine bottle opener, pressure cooker regulator weights, etc., etc.
Also have bag clips that look like false teeth!!!

I am so glad I am not alone! I have decided to embrace my junk drawer and enjoy the randomness of it's contents. I know I will smile and think of you all the next time I pull it open to add some random thing!

Funny you should ask, just cleaned them (2 of them) last week. 7 screwdrivers, 4 wrenches, 82 misc screws (I counted because I couldn't believe how many), picture hangers, nails, matches, 4 pairs of scissors, scotch tape, painters tape, masking tape, dental floss, 24 keys that I don't know what they go to, string, glue, razor blades, 4 knives, hammer, and for the weird element the feeding tube that was in our dog when he had his tongue removed. Geesh couldn't believe it, some of it is now in the garage the rest is well organized until DH gets into it.

I have two junk drawers in my kitchen and they consist of packs of spices, my kids teeth, beads, nails, hammer, night lights, air freshner plug ins, lots of papers i dont know what they go to, and lots of other little things just stuffed in there. LOL i really want to clean it out but i am afraid if i start cleaning it out then another drawer will become the junk drawer and that one will be clean but i will still have the junk only moved somewhere else. lol

I am loving fall and all the wonderful colors and of course my Hot Tub!!!!!

All of the above, except I have seperate bags of teeth for each of my children and my dogs. Dog collars from pets that are no longer with us. How can it be a junk drawer if it's organized? Lol

Twist ties, pens, pencils, black sharpies, paper, screws, cup hooks, nails, measuring tape, menus for pizza, chinese, you name it....it's in there! Lint brush, cat comb, cat nail clippers, funny cartoons.....I think I might get lost and never come out if I look any further!

Lori,

You can't part with her baby teeth probably for the same reason why I have a little trinket box with miscellaneous teeth from my animals...dog baby teeth I found in their water bowl when they were young, horse teeth I've found in the barn or miraculously in the pasture as they grew up and shed their baby teeth...sentimental memories.

Oh we have odds and ends and every little thing (like everyone!)in that drawer, but I would have to say the weirdest thing is a guide to birds. Why do we have a book in THAT drawer? Doesn't even fit with anything else in there? I guess its because the drawer is right by the window that the birdfeeder is in...but still, it seems so out of place!

I guess I posted this so you could find your smoker pellets Sharon! to funny.
Lori I think baby teeth is the winner so far.
I remembered why the red wax lips were in my drawer. I thought I might use it to wax screws so they go in easier. To bad I forgot that and searched all over for a candle stub last time i needed to wax some screws. I probably moved them to get the screws and never put it together.

Oh my- I checked my "drawers" at lunch- one junk drawers holds a hammer, rubberbands, paperclips, potholders, extra hooks for my pot rack, nails, candle lighter and index cards! My second drawer holds cards, birthday, note, and sympathy cards- more than I will probably ever use, but I have them in case, in that drawers also holds baby teeth from my children- why I keep them I don't know but they are there if I ever want to see them! Many other treasures I'm sure are in there but I had to stop searching when I found the 3 baggies of teeth!

I'm going to look now, if I can get it open :)

Okay, here's what's in it:

Screws, nails, thumbtacks, my hammer I bought when I was a single gal, a screwdriver, pruning shears (ahh so that's where they were),velcro, and 2 flashlights (wow, we could have used those the other day!). I guess the only different thing I found was a small bag of Applewood Pellets for smoking meats. Interesting, my husband just finished making a smoker yesterday :)

Denise- I figured all that stuff would end up in a pile on my counter top if I tried to move it. It would try to migrate "home". So be it. I go to that drawer at least once a day for something. God help the man that takes a tool and does not put it back!

You are not alone Connie. I have one and one day I got energetic and decided to clean it out so I could use the drawer for something else. What happened? It is still a junk drawer! But now it is an organized junk drawer (sort of)

LOL I am so glad I'm not the only one. I have a couple of those suction cup things and some tea lights too. I keep the twist ties and rubber bands in a baggie in the drawer with the foil and wax paper. There were to many of them for the junk drawer.

Wow, after reading this I went in to look at mine. I did see lots of candles and some lighters, small bulbs for night lights, and then I thought there was so much stuff I have to shut it back and walk away. Geesh, too much junk in there. But I am in there quite alot. It just needs some organization. Maybe more little compartments to keep small stuff.

Twist ties, suction cups for the window that keep falling off and breaking whatever I try to hang there, a Chinese New Year silk and cord dangly thing from the chinese restaurant we used to go to when we lived in Harrisonville three years ago, and lots more.

Ha ha ha ha!!! Mine is pretty much like yours with the exception of the weirdest thing, which would be a California Raisin pin/button. I MUST be a collectable by now!
