Saturday I made two loaves of fresh, homemade bread. I kneaded it by hand, let the dough rise twice, and baked it to perfection. But I didn't get to eat it...

My dog (usually referred to as my furbaby) decided it was too good to pass up and even though it was way up high, sneaked up on the counter and ate it, every morsel, including the cotton bread bag it was in! She was, literally, in the doghouse that day!

She's really a good girl, but she couldn't help herself...bread is her favorite. Guess I can't blame her on that one!

Oh Nicole, I so understand....I have a beagle that will eat anything she can get to. We have started locking everything up...she will eat bread, cookies, potato chips and anything else she wants...she was a dog that showed up here in May and never left. We live on 88 acres and there are alot of hunters around us, I think she got lost and found us...we tried to find her owners but no luck...I think she eats like she does because she was raised in a pen with others and had to always fight for her food. So I can't get mad at her...besides she is just so sweet.

Well, will attempt to do bread again in the next day or so...this time I will cool it INSIDE the microwave instead of on top. (Or on top of the fridge)? I am so glad she didn't get sick from it!

My dog did that once. He also ate an entire angel food cake. And once he ate some starfish I'd bought to use as decorations (after his trip to the vet, he thought twice about that!)

Oh, I think it is funny. I noticed she was hiding for some reason, then noticed my bread missing. I thought she would get sick, but no, she did okay. I just can't figure out how she got up so high! What a stinker!

Oh no Nicole! I know it's not *really* funny but I just had to laugh at the picture of the dog stealing the bread! :)

Oh no! Poor girl! All that work....

We had a dog here once who stole a loaf of bread, too. Now my dad, whenever I bake, will sneak into the kitchen and steal a loaf and say it was the dog. :)

At least you know it must have been mighty tasty!

Nicole you can take heart that you must make some great bread. My Great Pry was in the house once recovering from illness and as she had not moved from her spot in my shop the moment I went to take a shower she came into the kitchen and ate the two loaves of Amish Friendship Bread - both who where to be served at a spinning class I was hosting in my shop. I wanted to be mad but was thrilled she was up and eating. Cookies and tea where served instead. Nicole just smile..
