Posted - Jul 27 2011 : 12:26:24 PM I have dinner cooking in a homemade solar oven out on the back porch. It's been out there for an hour and is up to 170º. Chicken breasts sprinkled with garlic, paprika, pepper and thyme on top of new potatoes, onions and carrots with a little water and chicken bouillon for salt. It's 105º outside so the sun isn't having to work all that hard to raise them temps in that box!!! :-) Keeps the kitchen cool. Guess what my next blog post is going to cover tomorrow! :-)

Posted - Jul 28 2011 : 06:43:14 AM Oh my gosh that is SO AWESOME!!! Honest to Pete, Mary Beth - you do the coolest things!!!! This has really inspired me. I know we can do this today, but we've got another heat wave on the way, so I'm going to wait 'til then. When the kids are complainin' they're too hot, I'm going to show them how to make lemonade! Or, rather, sun-roasted chicken! THANK YOU for doing this and sharing the experience! You're just too cool - even in the hottest weather! :) Hugs - Nini
