Posted - Jun 25 2011 : 04:32:58 AM I have applesauce and peaches from Sept. 2009 that I canned. Will they still be good (now, June 2011) and if so, for how long?

Posted - Jun 25 2011 : 08:57:32 AM I agree with the ladies. I use old stock. If the jar is sealed and smells good no problem. But that being said when you open the jar and if you are uncertain at all don't eat it. Just put it in your compost and it will make wonderful new dirt for you.
Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do! |

Posted - Jun 25 2011 : 07:19:20 AM yup, just give a smell and make sure the seal was tight when you open. I have been eating on my 09 stash and only found 1 bad batch, but you can always tell. Recommendations are short, so always try to rotate your stock, but I think you are good for a bit. How much??? I play that by ear with smell and if I have any doubt will toss. Better safe than sorry.
