Hi ladies!
I just posted one of my favorite yeast bread recipes, Country Herb Yeast Bread, on my blog. You can make rolls or free-form artisan loaves. They are really yummy! See the recipe here:

Candy, I just finished browsing your blog. I'm going to try your recipes. They sound yummy. I also crochet dish cloths and scrubbies and add them to Christmas gifts and wedding and shower gifts. I, too, live in the high desert but in CA and I have chickens and parakeets and finches. I'd love to have a milk goat but I think my hubby would balk. I care for my neighbors goats when she goes on vacation as we all help out around here when one of us has to go somewhere. Her goats are pets and there is no milk. Your sunsets look a lot like ours and so do the desert flowers. Thank you for your blog I've enjoyed my morning visiting with you.

Thanks, Candy. I'm so specific about bread recipes and always worry if I'm doing it right. I used to have a really great bread machine, but the thermostat or something went out (which seemed to be a common issue with the model) and they wanted $50.00 to fix it, plus shipping. It weighed more than my house, so I elected not to bother...they've long since come down in price, but I've never gotten around to buying another.

Yes, you can use it without a bread machine. The machine merely does the mixing and kneading and warms up to give the dough the first rise. I never bake in mine, I only use the dough cycle! :)

I have seen the rapid rise yeast--I can use that without a bread machine, then? This looks like a weekend project for me, though I'm a fairly novice breadmaker.

Jonni,
Bread machine yeast is also called rapid rise and it is different than regular active dry yeast, which must be dissolved in liquid (proofed) before it's added to the remaining ingredients. There is also instant yeast, which can be added to the dough along with the other dry ingredients, no dissolving necessary. Hope that helps some!

That looks wonderful, Candy...one question, is there a difference between bread machine yeast and regular yeast? I don't own a bread machine, but I'd love to make this!
