I got out this morning and picked blueberries and I can't tell you how much I love it. I am just thanking God as I pick these pretty, sweet jewels. I love my blueberry and raspberry bushes!! They are so friendly. :-) Anyway, I posted a recipe for Blueberry Streusel Crumb Cake at the blog if you want to try something different.

We were cold until a couple days ago, now it's in the upper 90's with 70% humidity! Heat index over 100! Even my MIL that lives in FL most of the year is hot. My garden is doing good surprisingly enough. The tomatoes, peppers and corn love it.

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I guess we all need to pool our weathers and divide them out equally! :-)

Not in our yard!!! The farm has wild blackberries, but the only berries I've planted here are strawberries, and the rain will not stop, and the sun will not come out!!!!! Only had three spring-ish days, and that was a month ago. It's California, mid June, and we are having overcast days with highs in the mid 60's!!! My corn is never gonna get any thermals, so sad gardening year for us!

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Marybeth, we have only had maybe 5 days so far this year over 70 degrees. Three just recently! We are so behind this year, still getting hail and in the 40/50's over memorial weekend. It has been crazy, hoping it catches up and we have a late fall!

Annette, I figured where you are, there would be all kinds of berries!!

Tanya, is it cooler than usual? We are getting really hot here. My tomatoes are not doing great because of the heat.

I don't have blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries here:(. I'm enjoying yours MB, vicariously through mjf and your blog...
No one cared for the blueberries on the farm last year, so they suffered greatly. The wild blackberries, however, that grow along the water ditches are thriving!! Now that school is out, I can get back over there, and harvest my heart out!!
That recipe looks fab!!!! Have I mentioned I love the OPC?

Thanks! I do the pine needles thing, but I think they need more water. I have them caged to keep the rabbits away!

Well, down here in Oklahoma, heat is our worst enemy. It gets so dadgummed hot down here. It was 100 yesterday. Some orchards around here have their bushes right out in the sun but ours have never done well that way. We have ours planted in a large raised bed where a couple of oak trees shade them in the late afternoon but where they get full morning to about 12:30 sun. Where you are, you may not have that kind of problem. Our Okie sun is brutal. But anyway, the thing that I have discovered is really important is mulching the bushes with either cedar mulch mixed with pine needles or pecan hulls for the acidity. Also, I use Miracle Grow Miracid once a month. I mix it up according to directions and then pour half on the bush and the rest at the base of the bush for each bush. They love that stuff!

Mary Beth,
Sounds yummy! My blueberries bushes are suffering. What is the secret ingredient to help them grow?
