Posted - May 07 2011 : 07:09:16 AM I normally do not post recipes about alcoholic beverages but today is the Kentucky Derby and what better time to post about Mint Julep? I also share a beautiful letter between two WWII generals, one of them from Kentucky, on how to make the perfect julep. It is a very poetic way of giving out a recipe :) Happy Derby!

Posted - May 11 2011 : 7:51:40 PM I rarely drink, well make that never now, but I had a delicious mint julep at Oak Alley near New Orleans. It was a yummy treat in a hot climate. I can see why its popular. |

Posted - May 08 2011 : 11:04:31 AM Angie, thanks for the recipe and for the letter. I love it.
Dh's birthday is the 29th. I think (just to be different) we are going to try the mint julep recipe! I always have had this elusive picture of sitting on a hot summer day, enjoying a mint julep! Why not?! ;)

Posted - May 07 2011 : 3:03:33 PM Thank you Angie, I have always wanted to try Mint Julep. Being a Northerner, I've never tried it! I also see a lot of potential uses for the mint simple syrup!
Happy Derby to you too! Dawn in IL |
