It is so cold here I can't believe it. It has been in the 30's the last two nights!!! It's May for heaven's sake!! It was so dreary and cold yesterday that I decided soup would be perfect and played around with my homemade chicken noodle soup recipe to come up with something new and different. My hubby licked the platter clean. :-) I posted the recipe at the blog link below if anyone is in the mood for a tasty soup that you can sink your teeth into.

It has been so strange here too... Snow blizzard at the farm while having lightening strikes and thunder making the windows rattle. I had started some Pea Soup and Ham early in the morning and made a cobbler - Hot tea all day to warm the bones... Around here we always get snow before Mother's Day so the long johns are still on..

I also roasted an organic chicken and pulled the meat off late last night and froze in small packets but today it will be making stock with the bones and veggies so broth for lunch with Apple Muffins... I was told it might be 70 today but dipping right back down by evening... Spring in Colorado is never dull - cold but never dull.

Happy Eat's today ladies.

Funny, Grace! Last night our kitty, Sway, sat on my face, curled up under my chin, sat on hubby's chest and then scrunched between us trying to get warm. I shivered all night but was too tired to get up and get another blanket. There's one on the bed now!! Going to crawl under it.

The cold weather is moving east---I live in Arkansas. I made some chicken noodle soup yesterday, along with homemade bread. I went out in the rain to pick salad greens. Tonight we finished off most of the chicken soup, turned on our gas fireplace, and wrapped in blankets. At least no frost here. Now if the rain will only end.

It got colder here again, too. What's up with all this weather everywhere? It was grey out too. I still wore my sandals though. ;)
You've made me hungry for chicken soup! Yum!!!

Believe it or not, we have a frost warning out tonight!! Arrrgggghhhh. I've had tomato plants in almost a month! My strawberries are bearing and my asparagus is huge. Oh, and we have blueberries and peaches, apples and nectarines on the trees. What a world. What a world. :-)

Annette - Thank you for the recipe and enjoyed your blog. Pretty cool here as well, in fact had snow yesterday just a little north of us. Good soup weather!

Annette, I know! Here, we have been under drought conditions and it got so bad that we were afraid to leave the house because of high winds and low humidity. Fires were everywhere. But the temps fluctuated between very hot and very cold. All of a sudden, on Easter morning, we had absolute gully washers and got 5 inches of rain in one day. East of us got as much as 20"!!! And cold...oh my. Now, we've had rain or mist nearly every day and so the drought has broken, but it is still cold. My flowers and veggies are kinda confused!!!

Mary Beth,
Hasn't it been the strangest spring?? Spring is by all means my very favorite season, and I'm sad, as its been cold, wet, and very "un-springy" so far. Yesterday was the first real California spring day we've had. The first day of spring, we had a terrible wind storm, and woke up to half our fence in the pool, chairs across the yard, plants uprooted, tree branches in my garden, and a gutter downspout ripped off the wall! Some first day of spring!
My DH will only eat soup/stew on cold days. But your soup looked wonderful. I copied your recipe, and next time the weather gets confused, I'll pull it up, and give it a try. My 4 lil ones love chicken noodle.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.
