Hey Ladies,

Over the weekend I acquired 10 lbs of Gala Apples. Currently they are in batches of 8 in plastic bags inside a paper bag. "Little House in the Big Woods" talked about having them packed in sand in a barrel, But lacking the space for this what would a great farmgirl solution be?

Also if you have any canning options for all these apples let me know with recipes please.

Thanks all

Emily - I know you will get tons of advice. I don't get many apples in my area, so preserving isn't really a big deal to me. However, I did make Apple Pie Jam as Christmas gifts this year. I didn't enclose the recipe and every recipient has asked for it. I'm adding the attachment to the webpage where I found it. It was easy to make and tastes divine. I've eaten it over a pork roast, over pancakes, over biscuits, and even with just a spoon. It's an all-around winner.
Here's the site. If it doesn't work for some reason, e-mail me and I'll copy you the recipe. Good luck!
