I would like to make a recipe I was sent, but it starts off with a boxed cake mix from the store. I don't do boxed mixes LOL. Normally I would just make it from scratch, and I still might have to, but I was wondering if there's a good basic recipe for a simple yellow cake using the Budget mix? I didn't see one in the special recipe issue but it seems like there's be one out there.....

I've never tried the budget mix, so I'm no help there. However, I do know that if you substitute buttermilk for the water or other liquid called for in a boxed mix, it gives it a home-made taste. I'm a scratch cook myself, and one of the older ladies from church shared this tip with me. Now, I don't feel so bad about using a box in a pinch!
