OH My!
First, I have to tell y'all my story... I am an extreme foodie! My library was full of 95% cookbooks. I was self taught for the most part, but still went to culinary school. (I'm 44 years old) There are three things I really bite at in cooking, bearing in mind that I can make a rue that puts some Executive chefs to shame. Pancakes, toasted cheese sandwiches and fried chicken. With pancakes and cheese sandwiches, I never flip it in time.. one side's burnt or crispy and the other barely done. With fried chicken, I swear I've followed every recipe, every technique known to man word for word, motion by motion. I've gotten either burnt on the outside, raw inside or a huge gummy mess where nothing was edible!
Then my life took a huge turn. (on another thread) but my roommate/landlord wanted fried chicken. Oh great, i thought! So I looked up yet another recipe, this one from Paula Deen. I was set!
Ooops no I'm not. The recipe calls for self-rising flour. I had some back in my old life but not here. Now what???
Mary Jane's Garlic Pesto Fry Bread mix!
It came out more than perfect, so perfect than Colonel Sanders rolled in his grave and ouijied his CEO to hire me as Director of Development.
But seriously, it's wonderful and Mary Jane is a genius and helped me keep my post.
She's awesome!

Cool!

I am a total foodie, too! I can make tons and tons of dishes, but I cannot for the life of me make rice. Go figure :0)
