Posted - Jan 03 2011 : 5:53:29 PM Hey there, girls! I need help! I am in the process of making a HUGE pot of homemade meatless spaghetti sauce. It's been on simmer for a couple of hours, as I'm waiting for it to boil down and thicken. I just tried it a little while ago and it's bitter. I don't know what happened! I added a little bit of sugar, a little bit of salt and a dash of balsamic (all remedies I found online), but they're not really working. I don't want to lose this whole pot of sauce! Eghads!!! Will you please send me any suggestions you have? I am afraid to do anything without some good tried-and-true farmgirl advice! Thank you!!! - Nini

Posted - Jan 03 2011 : 9:13:40 PM Thanks, girls. I did add a little more sugar, Nicole, but it didn't work. I'm definitely going to try the baking soda in the morning, Mary Beth! Thanks so so much! - Nini

Posted - Jan 03 2011 : 7:05:42 PM Nini, add 1/4 tsp soda for about every 4 cups. It will bubble like the volcanoes we used to make in elementary school. Just keep stirring it in. Taste it and add a little more if you need to. That should take out a lot of the bitterness. Good luck!!
