I just watched this movie and loved it. I have not been motivated to cook the past few days, so I've been living off leftovers. They get a little old, so this morning I am up and cooking breakfast. I shredded a potato, threw in some cabbage, onion, spinach, tomatillos, (gotta have some veggies) and a little cheyenne. Next was a little turkey bacon and some peaches to top it off.

A strange combination but I was at the stove. I have the cook book out for dinner (lunch is still left-overs) and put on some garbonzo beans to soak last night.

Now, am I brave enough to try some of the recipes she put out, hmm. I'll have to think on that one. I'm still dealing with the whole gluten free thing and there are days that what I try (like waffles) are just a flop. I'm trying to use minimal ingredients and not buy the pre-packaged mixes. NOt so easy, though I did find a cookbook using almond flour. Still undecided on that.

Good cooking all,
Laurie

It looked like bruschetta.

A piece of bread, topped with pesto, cheese and tomato. Then grill it. You can do variations, but that is the basic. It's wonderful!!!

@herblady55 - tomatillos are small, green tomato-looking fruits in green paper husks that kind of look like chinese lanterns. They are related to the ground cherry and have a mild, sour taste. If you've ever had salsa verde, you've likely tasted tomatillos!

I think Montrose Girl means cayenne pepper.

P.S. Anyone read the book The Julie/Julia Project? It's what the movie is based on and I read it a few years ago - soo good! I read it several times but ended up giving it away to a friend as a present. I highly recommend it to anyone if they can find a copy.

I enjoyed that movie also, One of these days I need to try making Beef Bourguignon just to say I made Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon. If you google Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon recipie it does not seem that difficult to make.

I loved that movie. Her history was amazing. Does inspire a person to want to cook something exotic.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!

Cheyenne pepper. Tomatillos look like small tomatoes but they are sweeter. Used alot in Mexican dishes

I loved Julie & Julia. It's been awhile but I'm gonna watch it again thru Netflix, streamed in on my puter. Ok, humor me here...what's cheyenne, and what's in tomatillos? I also loved Ratatoiulle and have watched it about a half dozen times. I love rats though, as pets, so..... I swear I can smell the ingredients as he puts them in. hahaha I have "One of THOSE noses." LOL

That is a good movie and it does inspire you in the kitchen. Your breakfast sounded good.
