I have just made this, and the house is starting to smell devine #9829; The cranberries are starting to pop lol. I didn't have an orange at hand so used a lemon instead. Bet an orange makes it even smell better #9829;
Holiday Stove Top Potpourri Mix
* one whole orange or just the orange peel * 1/2 cup cranberries * 1 Tbsp. whole cloves * 3 sticks of cinnamon or a small handful of small pieces of cinnamon * a bit of grated nutmeg if desired
Quarter the orange. Put all the ingredients into a saucepan. Fill pan with water. Place on the stove on the smallest burner, on the lowest setting. Refill water as needed.

Posted - Dec 10 2010 : 2:33:43 PM Marian, That looks so pretty and I know it smalls heavenly! I have done that on the woodstove, (I use an old enamel tea kettle), just make sure you check on your water level. To me it is the best way to make your home smell wonderfull, and all natural ingredients too! Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas! Ruth

Posted - Dec 10 2010 : 11:13:07 AM Oh... thanks for the reminder! I did one similar last year and boy does it smell good ! Note...I used a glass pan. It seems to be a bit harsh on my aluminum ones.

Posted - Dec 07 2010 : 02:39:12 AM Dorinda, the original writer of this recipe uses it over and over again. Just add water when it evaporates. I used it all eve yesterday and added water once. I bet you can use this all winter ?? It does look murky (sp) after a while but the scent stays :) I just left it out on my stove (turned that off ofcourse ) and it is still there now. Looking good and even smells a little :) OH and the lemon works well too.
