I came across this yesterdayand made it. It is so simple.

The original recipe called for
4 cups apple juice
1/2 cup red hots
4 1/2 cups sugar
one package pectin

I could not find red hots. One of the comments on the recipe said they had used cinnamon disk candy so I opted for that. I also somehow could not just open a bottle of juice. So I cut up a few apples and added the juice to them and simmered it a bit. Then strained the juice with a coffee filter. I put the cinnamon disks in a ziplock and then beat them with a hammer and added just a bit more than 1/2 cup. Otherwise it was made the same as the recipe.

This was so very good. Like a cup of spiced cider. Such a great Christmas present.

Made a double batch last night, so yummy. It's going in Christmas packages for family. New muffin tins, muffin mixes and jelly. Thanks again for the recipe.

Well, do a search for how to make jelly. Also instructions are on the Pectin packages. I have a Ball Blue Book and it is very good for telling how to preserve. Basically after you have got the jelly ready you ladle in into hot jars and put lids on then you immerse the jars in a deep pan of water. Water goes over the top of the jars by an inch or so. Bring to a boil for 10 minutes and pull out to cool. Really it is more detailed than this but I am sure you can find instructions on line and probably on you tube. I am new to this myself though I am commited to learn so I bought a canner which is a BIG pot that is outfitted to do the job.

Yes, I did a water bath afterwards. I think it made 5 or 6 half pints.

This sounds so yummy - what size jars did you use and how many did it make. Did you also have to process it in a hot bath afterwards. I do not make jellies or jams so forgive me all the questions.

It really was easy, Beverly, and I am sure if you got a good bottled apple juice you could make it really easy. You want the clear apple juice not the one with the pulp in it. Once you get the juices going, the sugar, and candy added and the candy melted add the pectin and heat to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes and then ladle it into hot jelly jars. What is more it was very pretty in the jar.I just tied a ribbon around the top of the jar but I imagine you could go all out and put a cinnimon stick in the bow.

I just loved the taste of it.
