Hi all. My daughter and I want to enter a gingerbread house contest this year. Do you all have any suggestions , recipes, resources or books that might help us out. I am a novice at this..........should be interesting.

You will love it!
We always use melted sugar to glue the walls together and my warning is that the sugar is hot, super hot and it can stick your finger to your lip. Yep, dangerous and very painful.
Since you said daughter I thought I'd mention it b/c it is so easy to just want a taste. Or in my case, got some on one my fingers and thought my mouth would stop the burn.
But other than that....you will love it!

Hi Kim! I decorated my first gingerbread train last week at work. Even though I decorate cakes for a living I found this very enjoyable. Its a great way to let creativity fly! If you use royal icing, remember to keep it covered with a damp cloth. I learned the hard way, lol! I'd love to see pictures when you're done.

Here is the site I will be using this year. We always go to see the judging of a contest near us in December and then come home and make our own. I haven't ever entered a contest but hope to in the next couple of years. Good luck!
