Have you ever stored your frozen snipped green onion in canning jars? Last year I stored them in plastic containers and for the first few weeks my freezer smelled like onions. Just wondering if the canning jars would preserve the onions well?

I think the canning jars would work well. What a great idea. I'll remember this one!

That's how I have been freezing them, but I am out of freezer bags. I have only a few containers and used canning jars. I guess I will just use them and see how it works.

I have always snipped mine up onto cookie sheets and stuck them in the freezer for an hour or so until they freeze and then I have put them in ziploc bags (quickly so they don't thaw) and they stay loose instead of all clumped up. I haven't had any problem with an onion smell in the freezer bags. Of course, with that first freeze it gets a little oniony. :-)
