Posted - Nov 08 2010 : 8:16:04 PM I found the cutest nut cracker at the thrift shop on the weekend & was wondering where the best source is for buying walnuts *in* the shell. Cracking and eating walnuts was a family tradition that I grew up with. Am not sure why we did this, though (lol), but I'm craving walnuts

Posted - Nov 09 2010 : 06:28:16 AM Oh my! Memories! :-) My grandparents kept nuts in a bowl with a nutcracker too. And we always got a mixture of almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts and pecans in the shell in our stocking. Boy did we make a mess.

I thought you could still find nuts in the shell in grocery stores, but it's been a long time since I've looked for them. The oly other place I can think of might be Costco or some such store. Good luck finding them.
