Hello fellow farmgirls!
I was plugging away at applying for some beginner merit badges the other night and it occurred to me that I had written a post on my blog about trying Mary Jane's Budget mix and slowly adding more organic foods to our daily diet!
I know we're all working at it and I thought you might enjoy!

My husband's favorite with the budget mix is the Pizza crust! It's soo good!
And I love being able whip up pancakes and biscuits in a flash!

Yes, I forgot to mention I got the Farm Kitchen recipe book along with my budget mix. LOVE IT! I ordered the sampler and I can't wait for my guy's to tell me how the back packing food is on their next hike! they bring along their mini stoves and backpacking food, but they've never had Mary Jane's Outpost before!

I have been using the budget mix quite some time and I love it. My family does also. I ordered the MJF Special Recipe issue which has lots of recipes for the mix. They are wonderful. It's a good time to get creative! So glad you tried it. Have fun in the kitchen!

I have tried the gluten-free mix (small one) ... and I really thought it was great AND it just really seemed high quality as well.
I am going to be ordering the 10 lbs as soon as I am able.

So is anyone else lovin' the budget mix? I just ordered 10lbs so I can try more recipes'... It's holiday time so I'm going to try cranberry scones for sure and more bake overs and then I'll probably need to order more mix!

Thanks! I love that phrase " bloom where your planted" too. It is a true spirit lifter and a wonderful reminder that we are exactly where god wants us to be... always!
How wonderful that you stenciled it with flowers and placed it where you could see it many times during the day! Farmgirls are so clever! :)

That is really, really neat, Deb! When I was homesick, I stenciled a little floral arrangement around the light switch in my dining room, along with the phrase, "Bloom Where You Are Planted." It helped me keep things in perspective when I was feeling blue; but what was really great is that when we were foster parents it really seemed to help the kids, too. It was a great conversation starter, for sure! :) - Nini

Yes, living in a new place will eventually settle into your bones and it too will finally be " home ".
I feel blessed to have known two beautiful places in the world to call home!

Yeah, you're right, Deb - it does get easier after a while. I miss everything about back home, and it really bothers me that my son doesn't get to experience all the great things I did growing up in New England, but there's a lot to be said about being here, too. It was really hard at first, but this has also become my home. :) Oh - and I absolutely love papercrafting and am really looking forward to reading your post and seeing your family tree! What a great idea! - Nini

Hi Nini!
Thank you! I'm glad you popped over to see my blog. I'm sorry about the homesickness though... You wanna hear a funny coincidence? My next post is about how those of us who have been or will be homesick can calm the storm by making a 3-D family tree using photo's of our loved ones, a branch from the back yard and some basic scrap booking materials. I'll come back and post it here when it's finished... and in the mean time you best pick up that phone and get to calling those you miss!
PS. I know a little about being homesick.. I was raised in Northern Nevada where my farmgirl roots were formed, and I've been happily transplanted here in New England for ten years living just minutes from the Cape. I still get a little homesick now and then too but it gets easier every year!

Hi Debbie! WOW! I love your blog! We lived in South Yarmouth near Bass River for a few years when I was growing up; your pictures made me feel a little homesick... 'Looks like a few long overdue phone calls might come a little earlier than the holidays this year! ;) How beautiful Cape Cod is in autumn! (I love your seashell mirror, too!)
