With the holidays coming up what are some of your favorite food gifts to give?
I have done banana bread, pumpkin bread, brownies, whole wheat bread, salsa, & spice mixes.
This year is going to be a lean Christmas & I am looking for ideas for more food gifts!

Oh Merry,

That sounds wonderful!!! Would you be willing to share your Candied Jalapeno Recipe? pretty please :)

Karla,

I like to make Marshmallows, the Toasted Coconut ones seem to be everyone's favorites. My husband also roast his own coffee, I help come up with blends. I make homemade jams, jellies, chutneys and butters and sometimes make toffee for gifts.

Sure! Come join my family of friends! I know its a lot, but I wouldn't have survived the last few years without those friends. I truly do treasure them.

I'm giving gift baskets to my close friends filled with some homemade jams and jellies, homemade bread, candied jalapenos, homemade crackers and homemade soft cheese. I will also give them 2lbs of homecured and homesmoked bacon. Oh and I am appliquing a kitchen towel to put in the basket. I will probably bake some quick bread and also give each a tin of assorted cookies. I love my little group of friends, since I don't have family here, they are my family!

I used to do cookie baskets back in my starving student days. Several different types of cookies in cheapo wicker baskets I picked up year round at Kiwanis sales or garage sales, etc. Also made quick breads in small loaf pans, and candies. Hard candy is real easy to make, we used to not mold it but just pour on a sugared jelly roll pan and break into pieces. Taffy can be fun for kids to pull, and anything with chocolate is usually well received. Everyone seems so busy these days, I bet the old standby of cookies would still be great for most. If they don't want to eat them themselves, they can also serve them to guests.

Sometimes I've given my favorite recipe and then attached to it a small item (that's usually really really cheap). For example I just gave my tortilla recipe attached to a rolling pin. The rolling pin was something I found at the dollar store, for a dollar. Also this may be more than you'd like to spend but I got this idea from martha stewart, she took an apple pie recipe, in a new pie pan with all the dry ingredients for the pie and wrapped it in a cup towel. I think it was a wedding gift but how cute!

Good Luck!
