Hi Ladies,
I thought I would try and make a cake with fondant. I have always wanted to try it and I finally did. I made two different cakes. They were really good and of course very sweet. Visit my blog to see photos and tell me what you think.

I found a great easy recipe for fondant that is homemade but you don't use marshmallows. Here is where I found the recipe http://thecookduke.com/fondant-recipe/
It was really easy to make. The only trouble I had was when I went to kneed the dough I forgot to use some veg. oil on my fingers and it was really sticky. Not sure what I will make next but plan on doing another so I can practice. My sister wants me to make the cakes for her kids birthdays. Any suggestions?

Those are so pretty! I love the roses! My DD's cake was baked on a Wed., it was vanilla with raspberry filling and then I iced it with buttercream to go under the fondant. The fondant I worked on Thursday and finished after rehearsal on Friday before the wedding. It was scary carrying it to the car and then to the wedding sight which was outside. It weighed a ton! The bottom layer is 18" square, so you get the idea how big it was. I made the fondant from scratch with a recipe I found that uses marshmallows and powdered sugar. I made it ahead of time and had it in the fridge.
The black fondant made for some pretty smiles on the wedding guests!

Wow, I love your cake. How long did it take to make it? I am just a beginner myself and had alot of fun making these cakes. I don't know why my blog isn't there but will work on that. In the mean time here are the photos of my cakes.

I found a picture of the cake! Her colors were Hot Pink and Black! She wanted it to look like presents stacked on each other.

Jennifer, I could not get your blog to load either! I made a fondant wedding cake for my DD wedding 4 years ago! I practiced on small cakes first. It turned out well, but started to droop a bit because the wedding was in August and outdoors. I would love to see your cakes.
