Posted - Aug 17 2010 : 3:24:24 PM on the website "animal vegetable miracle " barbara posted her family's recipe for sauce (as well as a way to make a big batch then break that down further to a sweet and sour sauce as well as another sauce.) I did this last year and will be making the marinara again this last saturday in august. ( i had to order 40# of tomatoes from a farmer down the road as ours are a bit slow this year, ours will be happily eaten fresh. ** the recipe link makes a bunch but it was really good and we just opened the last jar the other night for pizza.

Posted - Aug 17 2010 : 3:19:34 PM I wanted to do a meatless. I can always add meat when we eat it. Alas, I have no pressure cooker. Maybe for Christmas this year.

Posted - Aug 17 2010 : 2:45:54 PM I canned meatless spaghetti sauce my first year of canning. None of ours ever made us sick! I would recommend following the BALL canning guide on how to do it. Also pressure can if you have the option to- but I did water bath mine.
