Posted - Jul 31 2010 : 8:58:46 PM We are trying two new crops in our garden this year, kale and kohlrabi. I've looked for recipes on-line but thought I'd check with the farmgirl cooks for suggestions. Thanks in advance. Susan

Posted - Aug 02 2010 : 07:52:50 AM Kohlrabi is delicious eaten raw--sorta like potato in crunchiness. It is yummy with a dip also. My mother used to steam the kohlrabi and then add salt, pepper, and butter and serve it that way. I haven't grown any in a while, but I do enjoy them.

Posted - Aug 02 2010 : 07:43:42 AM I hate kale but I know it's so good for me and full of good stuff that I need. So I have been putting a handful in my smoothies. I make my own kefir and have frozen strawberries and blueberries and whatever other fruit I have plus ground flax seeds. This way the kale is in their but it's covered up with all these other good things. Plus some honey. Yumm! Even the grands like it!

Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 09:25:07 AM I dry kale in the dehydrator, and then add it to soups and stews, just anything I want to add color and flavor to. I do not know much kohlrabi either, Carol

Posted - Aug 01 2010 : 09:10:39 AM I saute tender kale leaves with olive oil, garlic and red pepper flakes. I also add chopped kale to soups, especially potato soup. There's a great looking pasta and kale recipe in MJF magazine this month, page 32. Kohlrabi, sorry, can't help.
