I made these yesterday -- they are so good! Thought I'd share the recipe with you.

Snickerdoodles

1 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp cream of tartar

Coating
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs. Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until well blended. The dough is pretty soft so I refrigerate it for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle. Mix topping ingredients together in a small bowl. Roll dough in walnut size balls and roll in topping mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Bake until slighly golden brown -- overbaking will make them hard.

Yields 4 to 5 dozen cookies.

I use freshly grated nutmeg for my baking. If you do as well, you won't need to use as much. A little goes a long way!!

Oh I'll have to try the nutmeg -- that sounds wonderful. In fact, the first batch is gone already and I need to make more!

My favorite cookie, I've been making them since I was little. I never tried the nutmeg though. Good idea even if you add it to the cinnamon, I'll have to try it.

Oh, Kay- one of my favorite cookies. I roll mine in nutmeg and sugar though. My kids seem to like it better than cinnamon. Hmmm- I think I will head to the pantry and whip some up!!
