I'm looking at buying a few attachments for my kitchenaid- like the slicer/shredder and the sauce maker.

Right now I have a foodmill that I use for all my canning (applesauce and tomato sauce ). If you've used the kitcheaid attachments- would it work well for this purpose- or am I better off with my foodmill that can handle large amounts of food (just takes a lot of muscle)

My husband and I use the KitchenAid slicer/shredder attachment all the time. Definitely a good investment. I wouldn't bother with those plastic protectors that prevent the contents of the bowl from spilling out. It's a waste of money. Dianne

I don't have the foodmill but I LOVE the meat grinder attachment. I got my Kitchen aid mixer in 1988 and got the grinder soon after. I use it all the time. You can use it for things other than meat, but I love buying cuts of meat on sale and grinding my own burger, or on the coarse grind meat for chili, and sausage.
I have always meant to get other attachments too. They only one I ever got was that grinder.
Good luck!
