I would love to make jam but do not want to do the whole canning thing right now. Can I make a small batch of jam and keep it in a rubber maid container in the fridge? Can I get a few weeks out of it?

I just found Ball Freezer Jam Pectin (I think it's new). No cooking, only 1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar. Stir for 3 minutes, let sit for 30 min then put in containers and into the fridge or freezer it goes. Waayyy too easy but a great way to change those raspberries I picked into jam for the winter. I had a hard time finding the pectin though. Ended up finding it at Fleet Farm.

I have never thought of freezing it in baggies. Interesting.

I have an aunt who makes jam and freezes it in sandwich sized baggies. She keeps a pint jar fresh in the fridge and when it's gone she thaws a bag of jam and puts it in the jar after washing it out. She hates to can and says this works great for her. I've had her jam lots of times, it's great!

Actually you could make a small batch and keep in the fridge. There's always some left over from doing big batches. You could make freezer jam. No canning with that! =)

Do what you love, love what you do.
