You've heard the old saying, "too many cooks in the kitchen", well today it was really true. I taught all my kids to cook, 3 boys and 1 girl. then with my grandsons, I am doing the same. Today is bread day, so when the boys got home from school, (they are 5 1/2 and 7 on tuesday), we proceded to make the last of the loafs of bread. When teaching them all to cook, it also teaches math, with all the measuring, so the g/sons always want to measure, and help mix, well I was kinda in a bit of a hurry, so I mixed in the yeast, so did Jeremy and so did Johnny, well dummy me did not see that both boys had added yeast along with mine. We set the bread to rise (now remember it has triple the amount of yeast in it), and went out so the boys could do their chores, came back in and there was the risen bread, with towel on top, about 18 ins above the bowl and still rising, lol. Both boys ran over and thought they would punch it down, and now we have bread all over the table, them, the floor and 1 dog. All I could do is sit down and laugh. Needless to say, the yeast will be put away as soon as it is used, so no more triple amounts.

the fact that you are doing this with them is so great. i taught all 4 boys how to be independent. they learned to cook right off. i worked restaurant and hospitality. papa worked days i worked nights. that way no daycare.erik hated it but could survive on his own cooking. neils loved it. it was so fun. since all the kids hung out at our house there was a lotta food going on. lol you have a fun memory to pass on for sure. teresa i sure wish you were closer. we would have a blast. i sure miss those santa barbars winters....oh wait....do they have winter???i remember one year there. after a drought it rained so hard the street was a river. the kids all went out layed in the road, and looked like snow angels only wet. happy cooking sherrye

Very funny story! LOL

I have a heck of a time getting any bread that I make to rise at all...maybe I should start by tripling the amount of my yeast!

didn't even think about the camera, was too busy putting 2 little boys and a dog in the bathtub, before the honey wheat dough turned to cement in their hair, and had to scrape it off everything else before I needed a chisel and hammer, lol.
