It does take a little time to get the adjustment that you want, but pretty soon you just know where to set it. We actually dont mind it being a little coarser, it adds texture to the bread and is quite good. When I grind up corn for cornmeal I intentionally grind some really coarse so it can be used as mush (polenta). We love this mill, it does everything- even makes bean flour!

I have the same mill but I need to practice with it a bit to get a finer grind.

I have had a Corona type hand grinder for years (quite a workout by the way!) and was given a used "Whisper Mill" about 6 years ago...LOVE it!!!!!! I will always keep my hand grinder on hand, but sure enjoy that whisper mill. I would totally recomend it. I grind cornmeal in it too. Fast, easy and quiet. Does a great job.

I do not own one, although I would LOVE to. It's something I'd have to save the money for! But a friend of mine has one and I've used it before. This is it: http://www.urbanhomemaker.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1375&idcategory=161
If I were to buy one, I'd probably buy this one. Only because I have used it and like it.

i can only speak from what i have. i have a vitamix that works great for small batches. then i have a hobart coffee srone grinder. i use it only for grains. it is old was papas moms. we love it. the grain does not get to hot when grinding. thats about all i can help with. i love fresh ground grains i keep my whole grains in the freezer. i keep my ground grain in glass jars in the fridge. always tastes like fresh. sherrye there are a lot of farmgirls grinding that know more.
